Travel Back Thursday – Direction

Having not been to Africa before 2012, I didn’t understand why zebras were black and white. Black and white does not really scream “camouflage” in the middle of the grasslands. So, when someone first pointed out a large heard of zebras in the distance I was baffled as to why I had to search so hard to find them.nature016-direction

The colours are one thing, but the pattern of the stripes actually seems to confuse the eye – especially when there are lots of zebras in one location! I discovered that they are impressively hard to see when they are grouped together with their stripes blending in to the background.
